Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu attended the 100 year celebration of publication of an Odia daily in Cuttack. Speaking at the event, VP Naidu stressed on the importance of journalistic ethics. He said, “Simply because of competition, and temptation for TRPs, media should not go for sensationalization, there has to be sense in what you propagate. Media should introspect seriously and see to it that they all adhere to standards.” On the importance of media in democracy, he said, “Media has an important role to play in democracy, instances of fake and paid news, they're disturbing, few people are bringing bad name to journalistic community. I would like to caution everybody to see that we live by our value system and ethics.”

Imran Khan’s speech at the UN General Assembly focused mainly on India and Kashmir. He spoke at length about human rights violations in Kashmir. But the Pakistan PM did not utter a single word on the condition of Uighur Muslims in China. When asked about the condition of Uighur Muslims, he defended himself by saying 'no information'. There are nearly 10 million Uighur Muslims in China, mostly in Xinjiang province. Uighurs face one of the worst kind of human violations as per reports.

Uber has launched a new app called Uber Works to help people find shift work in Chicago. Uber Works connects workers with businesses that need to fill available shifts during peak demands. As the official blog notes, the app shows opportunities for positions as diverse as a prep cook, warehouse worker, a commercial cleaner or event staff. Users of the app can get detailed information about their interest in shifts, details on gross pay, location, skills, and more. The app also allows for time logging and helps ensure timely payments to workers.

Several people drowned during the immersion of Durga idol in Parbati River in Rajsthan's Dholpur. Victims will receive Rs. 1 lakh from Chief Minister's Relief Fund. Speaking to ANI, District Collector Rakesh Jaiswal said, "4-5 people have drowned in the river. 4 people have been confirmed, while the death of fifth one is not confirmed yet. 2 dead bodies have been retried so far."
